LP Pineda - If You Have To

IF YOU HAVE TO
(music and lyrics by Jude Gitamondoc, February 28, 2009)

performed by LP Pineda
piano by Jude Gitamondoc
recorded and mixed by Jad Bantug
at 1032 Studios

I guess it all comes down to this moment now
I guess we did our best to work things out
But if you have to know
I never want to let you go…

But if you have to
You know I’d understand
If you’re certain
That this is how it ends
Then take my world apart
You know, I’d let you break my heart
If you have to

I know we barely made it through the night
But I don’t know
Still feels as if we never really tried
‘Coz if I had my way, I’m gonna make you stay
We’d never have to say goodbye…

But if you have to
There’s nothing I can do
If you want to
I’d have to make it up to you
So take my world apart
You know, I’d let you break my heart
If you have to

If you have to
Then go…

If you have to
I won’t stand in your way
If you’re sure now
Then there’s no reason left to stay
But if you wanna know the truth
You know I’d rather be with you
But if you have to
If you have to
If you…

SineBuano

SineBuano is an independent filmmaking outfit based in Cebu City, Cebu Philippines.

It is dedicated:

- To promote the Cebuano/Visayan multi-faceted culture and identity through film;

- To educate and encourage its members to excel in the various areas of independent; filmmaking;

- To support the independent efforts of Cebuano and Visayan artists and artisans, and;

- To cultivate appreciation and assistance of the local public for its endeavors in filmmaking.

Despite its “demise” in the mid-1950s, albeit with sporadic outbursts in the mid-1970s and recent, the Cebuano/Visayan film remains one of the most articulate regional films in the Philippines.

Not only it brought home prestigious awards from international film competitions like the Asian Film Festival; it also offers Manila the Philippines’ film capital, star-studded performers at times when Manila was sorely lacking of big screen attraction.

The death of the Cebuano/Visayan films is not because it fails to carve a following of its own since the entire Visayas and Visayan-speaking Mindanao are still waiting for the next Cebuano/Visayan movie to come.

In the past, Cebuano and Visayan film producers look at film production as a way of re-asserting their presence in the overcrowded social spaces. As the cost of production since— those local producers determine film production here in Visayas no longer cost-effective.

Cebuano/Visayan films also is a victim to its own star system when the stars relocate to Manila. Thus, the regional industry is left in a vacuum, unable to sustain the its previous star status. Thus, the Cebuano/Visayan films has faded away from the limelight.

What needs to be rebuilt, if Cebuano/Visayan films must continue to be sustainable the next time it hit the screens in southern Philippines, is the re-orientation of the business of filmmaking with which it was producing films in the past.

SineBuano is a membership organization set-up to promote independent filmmaking in Cebu and the central Visayan region to revive of the Cebuano/Visayan film industry.

SineBuano believes it can help in the resuscitation of the Cebuano/Visayan film industry by re-crafting both the methods of production and the business plan that go with it.

Sinebuano chooses to embrace independent filmmaking in introducing this revival effort.

Independent filmmaking is a fertile ground to start this revival process. Not only it is not required to adhere to the redundant formulas of mainstream cinema; it is more venturesome in its selection of stories to tell and in the manner which it will tell those stories. It is a matter of choice that independent filmmaking offers a lot more space in exploring how Cebuano/Visayans can share unique stories of their hearts, their region and their culture.

SineBuano aims to entice the larger public to support Cebuano/Visayan filmmaking efforts with the current accessibility of digital tools in filmmaking and matched with the committed interest in the art of filmmaking, before proceeding to venture into the business of Cebuano/Visayan film industry.

Song Writing Workshop

We’re organizing a songwriting seminar-workshop to raise funds for TSINELAS. It’s going to be held this coming May. It’s going to be a four-day (two weekends) event to be held at the Tsinelas headquarters at the Saint Theresa’s College compound along Gen. Maxilom Ave.

We’re going to talk about the basics of melody writing, lyrics writing, musical arrangement and recording.

Award-winning musicians and recording artists Ian Zafra, Jude Gitamondoc and Brian Sacro have initially agreed to join us as speakers. I also invited myself as speaker, and myself said yes (haha).

We’ll be inviting other established musicians to join us as interactors during the open forums.

Anybody can join the workshop as long as he brings with him an original composition - in Bisaya, Tagalog, Cebuano and in whatever genre.

As a bonus, we might - i repeat, we might - choose a song or two from among the entries to be recorded for free.

Number of participants is limited to 25. You can’t learn anything in a crowd.

The workshop is not for free. We need to spend for the seminar kits and honorarium for speakers. Not a centavo will go to the pockets of the organizers. Proceeds will be used to fund various projects of Tsinelas, especially since another school year is opening.

We’ll soon be posting more details.

Join. Not only you will learn a lot from the workshop, you will also get the chance to help poor kids stay in school.

Rakenrol, Bisayang musikero!

Here in the deep of the dark
Your love found its way to my heart
Here in the midst of my insecurities
You showed me what true love is

You taught me to stand on my own
You showed me how I can be strong
Even through tough times, I keep holding on
'Coz I know I am never alone...

For as long as I'm in your arms
For as long as I keep you here in my heart
There is nothing to fear
As long you're here with me
I'll be safe from all harm
For as long as I'm in your arms

So hold me and never let go
You know how much I love you so
Together forever, we'll see each other grow
Till the love that we have overflows

Bounded by God's boundless grace
I know we can face come what may
Even through dark times, I know I'd be safe
Here in the warmth of your embrace...

For as long as I'm in your arms
For as long as I keep you here in my heart
There is nothing to fear
As long you're here with me
I'll be safe from all harm
For as long as I'm in your arms

Here where every sunset beckons
The light of a million stars
Here is where I'm gonna spend
The rest of my life:
Just right where you are...

For as long as I'm in your arms
For as long as I keep you here in my heart
There is nothing to fear
As long you're here with me
I'll be safe from all harm
For as long as I'm in your arms

I'll be safe from all harm
For as long as I'm in your arms

Missing Filemon - Sto. Rosario

A new song from the band Missing Filemon, and a part of their upcoming third album.

Sto. Rosario
Written by Insoy Niñal
Performed by Missing Filemon

Hain ka na kadali mong nawala
Kagahapon lang nanimba pa kita
Sa Sto. Rosario nagdunga’g panaway
Sa gipangtabi sa pari nga gamay

Nanguros ka nga nagkatawa
Sa dihang gisuginlan tika
Nga ako parion
Apan di na karon
Kay nahigugma na sa kalibutan tang duha

Ug sa kalit gibiyaan mo ako
Nga nagaluhod sa ludhanang bato
Sa Sto. Rosario padayong nanaway
Sa gipangtabi sa pari nga gamay

Nanguros ka nga nagkatawa
Sa dihang gisuginlan tika
Nga ako santoson
Apan di na karon
Kay nahigugma sa kalibutan tang duha

Ale ale ale ale ale aleluya
Hare hare hare hare hare hare krisna
Nanananananana….
